Most narratives about us, our bodies, oppression, and struggles were not penned by us but rather by individuals unfamiliar with our experiences. The gaze that scrutinizes us is white and considered to be as objective\reliable\intellectual. However, the observer’s identity transforms the written work into a foregone conclusion. We reject this profoundly ingrained notion in the society we live in. “Black Body” is the first magazine we have published collectively and focuses on the direct experiences of black bodies.
